2027 calendar call-out!

The artworks for my 2025 calendar were made in a rush at the end of 2024 when I realised I could use my ipad for drawing! They were a bit rough as I hadn't figured out how to use different brushes yet. I set up little still-lifes around the house and drew them as quickly as I could, although each drawing took about a week.

By the time 2026 appeared on the horizon, I had drawn every interesting thing in my house (apart from the cats) so I went to my friend Mandy's house (which is really a museum with plumbing and a couple of beds) to photograph her eclectic range of all sorts of incredible, weird things.
To create a still-life worthy of drawing I look for 3-5 objects that relate in some way, usually by sharing one or more colours. I try to set up a variety of heights in the scene and stagger the objects so there's some overlapping. I realised later that something organic such as leaves, flowers or fruit, soften hard lines in the composition. I also love a strong shadow so I set up a lamp. I use a piece of white paper as a backdrop so the shadows are visible.
To recap what I'm looking for:
3-5 objects linked by colour
Variation in height
Staggered so some objects are in the foreground. Overlapping objects create harmony.
A pot plant, flowers or leaves (nice but not necessary)
Strong lighting that creates visible shadows, preferably with a flat white background.
a clear photo with strong lighting (good phone camera is fine)
a photo taken in landscape mode at a slightly elevated level to the objects (see my photos)
But also, surprise me!
If I use your photo to create a drawing I will credit you on the calendar and on any social media using that drawing. I will also send you a complementary calendar and any stickers or cards that have used your photo (Australian addresses only).
The form to submit photos is at the bottom of my home page (scrolllllllll.....) https://www.lucindacrimson.com/
Thank you! I'm excited to see what you have!! 😻🌸🌺
